Cate Blanchett earned two slots in the acting races (for Elizabeth: The Golden Age and I'm Not There) even though the former was a flop at the box office.
The Australian screen icon joins an elite Oscars club after taking Academy Awards nominations in both the lead and supporting actress categories. No actor has ever won two acting Oscars in the same year, and only 10 others in Oscars history have been nominated for both acting categories at the same time.
The 38-year-old star won a best supporting actress winner in 2005 for her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in "The Aviator".
