Princess Leia's slave-girl metal bikini from Star Wars has notched its place in geek history.
It has become a staple of science fiction and comic book conventions.
Wired featured an article on the phenomenon.
"As movie costumes go, it was both small and fleeting, occupying only two minutes of screen time in Return of the Jedi, which many call the weakest of the original Star Wars films," writes Philip Chien in the article.
Two minutes of Carrie Fisher in a bikini, in a movie that gave plenty of cute time to the furry Ewoks.
You can even buy the metal bikini like the one in the movie.
It's no wonder why it has taken off. It is, after all, a skimpy bikini. And...well, that's all you really need, right?



The metal bikini frequently pops up in pop culture. Like in the episode of NBC's Chuck when Yvonne Strahovski donned one.







Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars fame did it for Fanboys, and the real fanboys rejoiced.






Not to be outdone, Melissa Joan Hart joined in with her rendition.






G4's Olivia Munn celebrated the 40th anniversary of the original Star Wars release by suiting up Leia style.

It doesn't end there. In 1996 the hit NBC sitcom "Friends" kicked off its third season with an episode weaved around the Princess Leia fantasy, titled accurately enough as "The One with the Princess Leia Fantasy."
In one scene, Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) asks if her boyfriend, Ross (David Schwimmer), has any fantasies. Ross eventually admits it, and Rachel ends the episode in the bikini.

Alright, friends. We are going to lead off with an impressive, stunning young lady who is sure to make waves as an actress. Not only is she a down-to-earth girl, but did I mention she is gorgeous?

Yvonne Strzechowski (stage name: Yvonne Strahovski) was born July 30, 1982. She is an Australian actress from Maroubra,a suburb of Sydney. She is a graduate of University of Western Sydney's Theatre Nepean with a Bachelor of Arts in Performance.
Strzechowski appeared in some roles in Australian film and television and currently appears in the American television series "Chuck" which is a primetime show on NBC.
She is now using the more phonetic spelling of Yvonne Strahovski as her stage name. Strzechowski speaks fluent Polish and employed it in a brief exchange in the Chuck episode "Chuck Versus The Wookie".
